The festive season has officially kicked off in Cambridge!

The festive season has officially kicked off in Cambridge with our new Christmas lights and two fantastic switch on events this November!

We held our two Christmas lights switch on events this November with the first one at the station on Thursday 16th November and then the big switch on at the Market Square on the Sunday where we switched on the lights across the city centre.

These fantastic free community events bring together residents and visitors to enjoy a range of wonderful performances in the lead up to the big moment. Star Radio kindly hosted for us again this year, keeping the crowds entertained; it's always a pleasure to have them involved!

It was also great to see people enjoying the local businesses around the Market Square for some festive treats.

Becky Burrell, Cambridge BID Marketing and Commercial Manager commented:

“The Christmas Lights Switch On is designed to showcase the great community groups, dance troupes, choirs, solo artists, and all of the wonderfully talented people we have in Cambridge and give them a platform to perform, which every year they do with gusto.  We are delighted with the turn out and would like to thank everyone for showing their support this year.  Please do take a look through our photo gallery here and if you haven’t already, please come and enjoy the new lights across the city.”

A big thank you to Star Radio for hosting, our excellent performers for putting on a great show, our team and everyone who helped us at these events, to the businesses who supported and anyone who spread the word about the events!

We have installed new Christmas lights this year kindly supplied and fitted by Field and Lawn, including a colourful tree on Peas Hill and a sparkly bauble at the station; we would love for you to go out and enjoy! So, as the days turn to dark earlier please do head down into the city to as Cambridge is lit up with festive cheer, and don’t forget to tag us in your pictures on our Love Cambridge social media channels.
