Stephen Patterson, Chief Executive, Newcastle NE1
As one half of the two-man team that established NE1 in 2008, Stephen has amassed 18 years’ experience within the BIDs industry. In that time, the BIDs industry has evolved significantly, moving beyond mere project delivery, to lobbying and business advocacy, to strategic planning, and shaping place-based investment pipelines. NE1’s trajectory over this time has mirrored this evolution, delivering a wide range of award-winning projects in addition to being awarded best BID in Europe in 2016, and overall winner at the inaugural National BID awards in 2026.
Prior to joining the BIDs sector, Stephen’s professional background is in branding, marketing, and PR. This strong foundation of connecting audiences with products, services and experiences proved invaluable in shaping NE1’s early programme, and its continuous development since then.
Stephen also Chairs the ATCM (Association of Town and City Management) BIDs Steering Committee.
