Taking place on Tuesday 30th June 2026, this session will support you and your team to better understand substance use, respond safely and effectively, and build stronger pathways into local support services.

The day begins with The Essentials of Drugs and Alcohol, exploring substance categories, the effects and risks of commonly used drugs and alcohol, and providing space to ask questions and deepen understanding of local trends.
In the afternoon, Working with Problematic Drug and Alcohol Use focuses on professional boundaries, legal responsibilities, safe practice, and approaches for more effective engagement with individuals experiencing problematic substance use.
The session also includes an overview of CGL’s local drug and alcohol treatment service, helping attendees understand available support and referral routes.
This training is ideal for anyone seeking practical knowledge, greater confidence, and a clearer understanding of how to respond when drug and alcohol use impacts the people they support, and encounter.
