Summer in the Square 2026 Wrap-up Report

This summer we returned with our Summer in the Square series, bringing live music to Station Square every Thursday evening throughout the month of July. Working in partnership with CB1 Community, Summer in the Square brought great live music from local bands and musicians, delicious food and drink and good vibes to the station area.

Each event ran from 5pm – 7.30pm with two performers each week. We worked with Tom Dulieu from Blackbird Music who organised the bands and musicians, who were all local Cambridgeshire performers. A different food truck or van from foodPark also attended the event each week meaning we could offer tasty bites to our attendees whilst they enjoyed the music. The Copper Tree Bar were also there serving up refreshments.

We would like to thank the Cambridge Folk Festival for collaborating with us on the final two events on the 23rd and 30th July as part of their Cambridge Folk Festival Presents programme; a series of fringe events across the city in the lead up to their main event that took place on the 1st and 2nd August.

“Year 2 of Summer in the Square has demonstrated the real appetite for live music in the heart of the city. Giving local musicians an open-air space, to perform for people arriving in the city, heading home after work, or simply enjoying their day, the event has created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere week after week. It was great to work with foodPark and The Copper Tree, who made sure the audience were refreshed! A big thank you to all our musicians: Josh Robins, The Los Amigos, Georgia Nevada, Dorothea, Split Whiskers, Harry Quinn, Sugarfoot, Steve Strawhead, Mr Griff; and an even bigger thank you goes to Tom Dulieu, a Cambridge musician himself, who booked all the bands and managed the sound for each event.” Jenny Granshaw, Head of Projects & Development

The event grew in attendees each week reaching up to around 160 at the final event and over 1000 visitors in total across all 5 weeks.

We also shared a range of content across our social media channels including posts and stories to promote the Summer in the Square events which received around 13K views in total.

Overall, we believe Summer in the Square was a successful and positive activation in the station area across July and brought something fun and exciting to the area for all to enjoy!
